Housesitter: A Word I'm Unable to Spell
Living in a foreign country, no one really near your age, it can get lonely. And I of course take that upon myself, as I haven't exactly gone out and done anything to meet people. But, I digress. This does however, allow me to watch many movies and probably five consecutive hours of CSI. Daily.
The other day I was heavily engrossed in Mindy Kaling's new book, when my mom switched the channel to "Housesitter". A nineties movie. Of course, I was hooked. How can you not watch a nineties Romantic Comedy? The era practically invented the genre. Plus, I love a little bit of Goldie Hawn, which I suspect has something to do with my admiration for Kate Hudson. Who I only learned a few years ago is her daughter.
The movie was nothing special. Textbook RomCom. But I did find myself screaming at the screen every time the wretched gold digger came on. That's not normal, is it? I'm not going to share the details of the movie, just that it's cute, and you should consider watching it. It's perfect at what it's trying to do, which is be a romantic movie.
My only criticism: and this is directed to all movies circa 1990; there is no need for the two second bit in slow motion. What is the slow motion for? Why is necessary? The short answer is it's not. It's really not. When the heroine leaps into her hero's arms, we don't need it to be slower. It's fine at the speed it's at. Okay?
That's all the ranting and raving I have for you today. Guarantee you'll enjoy this movie. (Not really because I don't know you, but it's a pretty safe bet.)
